Seismic Design of Fasteners Supporting Non-Structural Elements of Buildings

This practical session is intended for building surveyors who encounter seismic fastenings on projects. It will provide an overview of the key design and compliance principles relevant to non-structural seismic fastening, including the role of AS 1170.4 and the evidence typically relied upon to support product use. Using product-agnostic real application examples, including screw anchors and direct fastener solutions, the session will also cover installation compliance, and common inspection red flags.

 This session will provide vital information for building surveyors around what to look for in approval documentation to understand if seismic fasteners are properly designed and once on site, what to look for when inspecting work in progress. This session is vital for anyone who assesses or inspects Class 2 – 9 buildings in Australia and is designed to address a known unknown in practitioner knowledge.

How to attend

CPD information

CPD points are allocated based on verified attendance. Your attendance time is recorded during the webinar and must meet the required duration to be eligible for CPD.

  • Display your full name (avoid generic names such as “Guest” or “iPhone”)

Attendance certificates:

  • Event attendance certificates will be available in your AIBS account within seven days of the event. You will receive a notification once your certificate is available.
  • The name on your attendance certificate will appear as it is in your AIBS profile.

Group viewing arrangements must be approved in advance. CPD cannot be awarded without prior approval and individual registrations.
