Frequently asked questions
Find quick answers to the most common questions about AIBS CPD — including points, eligible activities, evidence requirements and study exemptions.
How many CPD points do I need?
You’ll need a minimum of 12 points each year and 55 points over three years, distributed across four modules.
What counts as eligible CPD?
CPD activities include formal seminars, webinars, workshops and conferences delivered by AIBS or recognised providers — such as professional organisations, registered training providers (RTOs), government bodies, or AIBS branches (in line with AIBS Training and Branch Policies).
Private study and informal meetings no longer count toward CPD points, and all industry providers must be approved by AIBS.
What evidence do I need to provide for CPD activities?
You must provide formal written evidence of attendance, such as a certificate of attendance or written confirmation from the organiser verifying your participation (dated after the event). Registration confirmations or invoices are not accepted as evidence.
How will I know if a CPD event is acceptable for points?
If you’re unsure whether an event qualifies for CPD points, simply email the event details to [email protected]. Our team can review the content and confirm whether it meets the program requirements.
Can I get an exemption for study?
Yes. Accredited tertiary study in building surveying or business management may qualify for exemption from annual CPD requirements, subject to AIBS approval.
