Building Surveyors, the Courts & making Ethical Decisions | Webinar Event

Zoom Webinar

About this Event Thursday 28 March 2024

Have you ever found yourself facing inquiries or uncertainties regarding the opinions and decisions you've made in your role as a building surveyor? Do you worry about navigating the intricacies of how to respond and what to communicate when under investigation or, even more challenging, when questioned in a legal setting?  Are you being asked to prepare an expert statement or report or written evidence for legal proceedings.

In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the scrutiny faced by building surveyors nationwide. Recognising that the building process inherently involves risks, compounded by challenges arising from certain individuals within our industry, we acknowledge the considerable hurdles our profession encounters. Building surveyors often find themselves in difficult positions where there is no clear-cut right or wrong answer. The decisions we make undergo rigorous examination, frequently contested by regulatory bodies and the legal system.

Understanding the complex landscape, ethical dilemmas faced by and increased litigation involving building surveyors, we have partnered with Victoria Shute from Kelledy Jones Lawyers. Together, we aim to provide insights into the pressing issues that exert significant pressure on our industry, assisting professionals in making ethical decisions that withstand scrutiny and do not compromise their integrity.
