Building Surveyors must possess expertise in various technical areas to ensure compliance with regulations for commercial buildings. As part of the assessment process, we review designs from allied professionals and accept certificates of compliance for their respective roles. However, this acceptance should be based on a comprehensive understanding and a crucial aspect is the evaluation of energy efficiency, particularly under section J of the NCC, for commercial buildings.
This tailored training webinar is designed specifically for building surveyors to equip you with the knowledge needed to confidently accept designs in good faith, grounded in a thorough understanding of the processes involved.

- Typical scopes (e.g., excluding MEP, delineation between facades, ESD, and MEP)
- Overview of the technical process for an energy model
- Energy/GHG results and the influencing factors (heating energy, cooling energy, fresh air, lighting, etc.)

- Strategies to identify attempts to manipulate the system and potential pitfalls

About the Speaker: Samantha Anderson
Samantha is an Associate in Building Physics who has a comprehensive understanding of building performance, facades and all properties of glass.
Samantha is passionate about delivering high-performance buildings, but, in addition to this, trying to achieve greater clarity in the industry in regards to what a “high performance” building represents, and how these building can impact occupant comfort. Samantha strives to change the perception that “air conditioning” is required to maintain comfort, and make people realise comfort can be achieved through the building envelope alone.

- All outstanding invoices must be paid before registering your attendance for any AIBS events. If you are unsure, please contact the AIBS office to confirm.
- All registrations are for a single delegate for the entire day, no individual session registrations accepted.
- CPD points will only be awarded to the registered delegate.
- Full event registrations cannot be split for different delegates on different days.
- Day registrations cannot be split for different delegates on different sessions.
Refunds will be provided for cancellation as follows:
- More than 30 days before the first day of the event - full refund
- Between 7 and 30 days before the first day of the event - 50% refund
- Less than 7 days before the first day of the event - no refund.

- All registrations are confirmed upon completion of registration via the AIBS online registration system.
- All invoices will generate a payment term of 14 days from the date of registration however, please note that payment for a registration must be made prior to attending.
- In the circumstance where payment cannot be made prior to the event, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible to notify.
- Any cancellation of a registration for AIBS events must be made in writing to [email protected]
- A failure to make payment in accordance with the above terms will not be accepted as a valid cancellation.
- 'No Show's - not showing up to an event does not cancel an existing invoice and therefore, must be paid.

AIBS Attendance Certificate
Please note that you will not automatically receive an attendance certificate for this event. AIBS does record your attendance at any of our face to face training events, webinars or AIBSTV.
When preparing your AIBS CPD Return, you are not required to provide a certificate of attendance for AIBS events, as your attendance is already recorded by our staff. When completing your CPD return please note the date and name of the event, and AIBS staff will verify your attendance against our records. This will save you having to find and collate your attendance certificates over your CPD year. Please note that for non-AIBS events your evidence of attendance is required.
However, if you need a certificate of attendance for your own records, please email [email protected] and your certificate will be sent via email.
