About this Event

This training is to provide building certifiers with knowledge of the latest development assessment process contained in the new legislation. This seminar is designed to provide an awareness of the process and its association with related instruments, and is supported by the identification of reference points to enable navigation across the range of instruments.

The presentation also identifies critical actions required of building certifiers to ensure they are prepared to operate under the new process.

Delegates attending this seminar will gain:

  • An understanding of the new legislative framework and ability to navigate across the various instruments
  • A Knowledge of the process and its operationalization
  • A Familiarity with the terminology of the new legislation
  • The Identification of administrative changes required to support the new procedures

About The Speaker:

Mark Baker  
DipArch(QIT) MSPD(UQ),GradDipU&RP(QIT) FPIA  LGTP(Q)  CPP
 
Mark Baker conducts a sole practitioner planning consultancy in conjunction with an educational role as a visiting lecturer and trainer. Mark holds qualifications in architecture, social planning and in town planning and is a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia.

In a career spanning 40 years, Mark has worked in the private sector, with research bodies and in the public service before commencing his private practice 25 years ago. For many years Mark regularly provided expert evidence to the Planning and Environment Court and other jurisdictions. He is a former Referee on the Building and Development Dispute Resolution Committee.

As an educator, Mark has taught in a number of planning and related programs at Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University, Bond University, Central Queensland University and the University of Queensland where he currently teaches. He currently provides accreditation training to private certifiers in Queensland.

Mark co-authored the 1990 Local Government (Planning & Environment) Act and assisted in the development of IPA.

Cancellation Policy:  Refunds for registrations should be provided in writing to [email protected] as outlined below and calculated from the first day of training 
 More than 30 days - Full refund
 Between 7 and 30 days - 50% refund
 Less than 7 days - No refund
Participants may transfer their registration to another training session up to one (1) working day prior to the commencement of the training day without loss of funds.
Payment Policy: Payment Terms:  Net 14 days. Registrations made within 14 days of the event are required to be paid PRIOR to the event date, regardless of invoice date.

For all AIBS training events, minimum numbers must be met prior to the date to proceed
