The intricacies of class 2 & 3 buildings up to 4 storeys –
An AIBS BCA Masterclass!

What do you need to understand as a building surveyor when assessing and approving Class 2 & 3 buildings up to 4 storeys?

There are a number of concessions provided within Vol. 1 of the NCC for class 2 or 3 buildings up to 4 storeys.

When taking advantage of these concessions, it is important to ensure that they are interpreted and applied correctly.  This training event will go through the assessment process for a class 2 or 3 building and what needs to be considered under parts, C, D & E of the NCC 2019 including Amendment 1.

Areas to be addressed include;
Fire Rated Walling Systems – The Do’s and Don’ts when approving and inspecting.
The intricacies of Vol. 1 of the BCA when assessing, approving & inspecting class 2 & 3 buildings up to 4 storeys.  A concentration of applying the concessions in the NCC.
Weatherproofing of class 2 & 3 buildings up to 3 storeys.
Class 2 vs Class 3 – Recent court decisions and the interpretation applied for a class 2 building being used as short-term accommodation including Airbnb’s.

A practical workshop scenario will be applied throughout the day, so participants can work through the architectural, structural and services plans to ultimately determine the complexities involved whilst providing solutions to a real case example.

This training session is aimed at both new entrants who have only a basic knowledge of the provisions at assessing and inspecting class 2 & 3 buildings and for experienced building surveying professionals who would like a refresher.

The seminar will apply a practical approach that highlights the technical issues outlined within Vol. 1 of the BCA for class 2 & 3 buildings.

Recommended that participants have access to Vol. 1 of the BCA for this masterclass training event.
