How long does it take for my membership application to be processed?

Member applications are generally processed within two weeks, as long as all documentation (evidence of qualification or ongoing enrolment) is provided with the application.

I want to apply for AIBS accreditation, but I don’t have one of the qualifications on the academic course listing, can I still apply?

Yes, if you have obtained registration through your state in the field of Building Surveying at the appropriate level or if you have had an RTO assess your qualification for equivalence to one of the currently accredited courses. You will also need to satisfy the experience requirements for the level you are applying for, which are detailed in the Guidelines to Demonstrate Experience.

I held AIBS accreditation in the past and I want to resume it; what will I need to do to become accredited again?

You will need to complete a new application for accreditation. Regardless of your previous accreditation status, you will have to demonstrate that you meet the current education and experience requirements.

My accreditation expiry date is coming up but I haven’t received my CPD assessment letter/s yet, what should I do?

Submit your re-accreditation application before your accreditation expires (additional fees will apply if it is not received before your expiry date).
If you have already submitted your CPD return(s) to the AIBS office, you are not required to do anything further as the completed CPD letter(s) will automatically be forwarded to the accreditation coordinator upon completion.

I have lodged my re-accreditation application before my expiry date but it hasn’t been processed yet, am I now unaccredited and unable to practice?

No. As long as your application is received before the expiry date, your accreditation continues until the application is determined.

What do I do if my accreditation expiry date has already passed and I still want to be accredited?

You should submit your application for re-accreditation as soon as possible with a written request for your accreditation to be extended whilst a decision is made on your application (this should be addressed to the AIBS Board). You will be required to pay an additional administration fee.

How do I know if AIBS will award points for a CPD activity?

When unsure on the validity of a CPD activity, it is always recommended to contact the CPD Administrator by email or by phone for verification.
