Draft Premises Standard Report Print E-mail

Please find attached a report issued by the House of Representatives Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee on its inquiry into proposals for Disability Standards on access to premises.  The report on the inquiry, also attached, was tabled in the House 15 June 2009 by the Committee's chair, Mr Mark Dreyfus QC, MP. Please read if you are interested in proposed changes to make buildings more accessible.

The attached report from the House Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee will table its report on the draft Premises Standards was tabled last night. Draft Premises Standard Full Report 15 June 2009

The draft Premises Standards are intended to make public buildings more accessible for people with mobility, vision and hearing impairments. If introduced, the Premises Standards will have a widespread impact, improving building accessibility for new buildings and existing buildings undergoing significant upgrades.

ABCB National Conference 2009 Print E-mail

The Australian Building Codes Board is proud to announce the Building Australia’s Future 2009 Conference to be held at the Royal Pines Resort from 20 – 23 September 2009.

The Organisers have designed a program featuring both plenary sessions and interactive workshops that will focus on a variety of topics and technical requirements relevant to all building professionals.  Leading suppliers of building products and services will also be in attendance showcasing latest industry developments.  Our evening social program will offer you a chance to network with colleagues in relaxed surroundings.

In addition, the QLD/NT Chapter of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors will hold their annual one day Summit at Royal Pines on 20 September 2009.  This initiative will provide delegates participating in continuing professional development (CPD) programs with an excellent opportunity to acquire their annual points.  By attending both the AIBS Summit and the Building Australia’s Future 2009 Conference delegates have an opportunity to receive CPD points for 22 hours of technical content across the four days.
